Workshops & Class Suggestions

If you are registering for a workshop, your insurance may cover it under your physiotherapy benefits.  It is recommended you check with your insurance company to determine if they will cover a physiotherapy exercise group class.  If you can claim the class under your physiotherapy benefits, then a physiotherapy assessment must be completed before you attend your first class.  Click here to book your assessment.

In-Person attendance is limited to 8 and virtual attendance is capped at 10.

Supplies needed: Pen or pencil, yoga mat, comfortable workout pants, shirt, and hoodie.  In-person classes will require participants to bring their own props. If you do not have props, follow the suggested list provided for virtual participants.  If needed, there are limited amounts of props available for in-person classes.  If you are attending a virtual class, here are some suggestions for home props: pillows, blankets (Mexican are the best), books, blocks, rolled towels, exercise balls, light free weights and/or exercise bands, etc.

Mom and Baby Postnatal Workshop - The 1st Year

I am excited to be joining two amazing moms who are also experts mom health professionals in this 4-hour workshop!

This session will include knowledge from three of Okotoks’ expert health professionals, handouts, light snacks, water, coffee, and tea.  Moms are welcome to bring a lunch or pop out during the break to pick up lunch.

Workshop Format

Session 1: 10 AM

Pediatric Physiotherapist, Tracy, will provide a 1-hour review of the gross motor milestones in year 1 of your baby and will provide tips and tricks to help ensure your baby is meeting their milestones.

Session 2: 11 AM

RMT, Amy Giordani, will provide a relaxation massage sequence for moms to use with their babies in a 1-hour overview of her 4-hour Certified Baby Massage Course. A colored booklet will be provided for moms to refer back to when at home.

BREAK: 1-2 hours (moms can get some food and ideally send babies with dad or a sitter).

Session 3: 1 – 2 PM

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, Leona, will provide a 2-hour workshop that will benefit moms no matter their delivery method (c-section or vaginal). Leona will touch on common concerns she sees in her practice from postpartum and some take-home education and exercises for moms to integrate into their daily routines.

Yoga mat
Edible oil (we recommend coconut)
Snuggly blanket
1-2 of babies’ favorite toys
Diaper bag
Water bottle

Tracy Banister – Pediatric Physiotherapist

Tracy Banister graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2015 and has been treating pediatrics since the beginning of her career. Tracy has always had a passion for working with kids as she spent several years teaching dance to children.

Leona Ham – Pelvic Floor & Orthopedic Physiotherapist

Leona is Okotoks’ most experienced Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist.  She has been seeing patients with pelvic floor dysfunction since 2009. Leona combines her knowledge and experience in pelvic floor physiotherapy, orthopedic physiotherapy, and athletic therapy to provide her patients with the best possible outcomes they can achieve.  

Amy Giordani – RMT

Amy is a Registered Massage Therapist with over 15 years of experience in infant massage.  She is also certified in Yoga and Reiki, Amy works with mind/body connections clients of all ages.
