About The Founder
Leona Ham
Leona Ham is the founder and sole physiotherapist at Finishline Physiotherapy. She considers herself a local. Growing up near High River and attending local schools, she knows the Foothills community. Leona graduated from the University of Alberta in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy. Prior to completing her 4 year degree, she received a Diploma in Athletic Therapy from Mount Royal College and completed 1 year in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary.
Leona began her career with a focus in Sports Physical Therapy. However, after having two beautiful children and experiencing her own pelvic health struggles, Leona realized her passion for women’s pelvic health and has been seeing patient’s with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction since 2009. She has attended numerous conferences that focus on pelvic pain and continence issues. She has spoken to various mom groups, doctors, the Primary Care Network nurses, female ministry groups in her community and has presented at the Alberta Neonatal Nurses education day. She does free presentations on Pelvic Floor Dysfunction in her community’s public library 2-4 times/year. In addition to seeing patients one on one, she has designed numerous workshops and classes. Leona has and continues to volunteer as a therapist in a variety of sports and events in her community.
Exercise and activity are important to Leona and she understands the frustrations women have when their favorite activities are limited due to pelvic health issues or other injuries. Patient’s find Leona has a sincere and empathetic approach towards all of their needs. Leona has evolved in her knowledge and practice significantly in the past 5 years and addresses her patient’s concerns individually and holistically. She continues to make it a priority to attend a conference or course 2-4 times/year.

- Medical trainer with her son and daughter’s Hockey Team in the Okotoks Minor Hockey League.
- Traveling to Germany with the Canadian Trampoline and Tumbling team for their world championships in 2003. This was a special moment as Karen Cockburn, one of Canada’s most decorated Olympians, won her first World Championship.
- Training the men’s hockey team that won Gold for Team Alberta at the 2003 Canada Games.
Team Members
Finishline recognizes, and research supports that a collaborative health care model is what brings optimal health and well-being. Since 2008 Leona has made it a priority to develop positive relationships with other health care practitioners in and around the Foothills community and town of Okotoks. As of September 1, 2020 Leona has moved Finishline Physiotherapy into Active Balance Health Center and is excited to give her patient’s the opportunity to access multiple health and wellness services in one location.
